For candidates

Been asked to run FairlyHire?

Here’s exactly what it does, what it never does, and what your interviewer sees — in plain language, before you decide anything.

What the agent does

FairlyHire checks for AI-assisted cheating tools that hide themselves from ordinary screen sharing. While it runs, it:

  • Looks for known cheating tools among your running programs.
  • Detects windows hidden from screen capture — the specific trick those tools use to stay invisible during a screen share.
  • Runs on your own computer, for the interview only.

What it never does

  • It does not capture or record your screen.
  • It does not log your keystrokes.
  • It does not access your webcam or microphone.
  • It does not read or upload your files.
  • It does not report ordinary apps — your browser, music, chat, or games.
Transparency

What your interviewer sees

Only an integrity verdict — Clean, Suspicious, or Caught — plus any specific flagged findings (for example, that a window was detected hiding from screen capture) and an anonymized count of newly launched applications, with no names attached. The interviewer does not receive your screen, your files, or a list of your everyday apps.

The service does not collect your name or email; you are linked only to the interview’s join code.

Joining

How joining works

  1. Your interviewer sends a join link

It contains a short join code. There’s nothing to install — the FairlyHire agent is a small app you download and run for the interview only.

  2. Review before you agree

Before anything starts, the agent shows you a plain-language summary of exactly what it does and doesn’t do, and asks for your consent.

  3. Stop anytime

Monitoring runs only while the agent is open. Close it and it stops — and it sends a final “ended” signal so everyone knows.

Your choice

Consent is required — and it’s yours

You consent before monitoring starts, or you can decline. If you decline, no findings are sent — the interviewer simply sees that consent wasn’t given. You can stop at any time by closing the agent.
